Job Description

VCU Health System's Transitional Cardiology Unit is seeking a Part Time - Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator facilitates patient flow, coordinates activities and communication for the nursing unit during his/her assigned shift. This person ensures that patient care is delivered to all patients on the nursing unit in an efficient, caring and courteous manner.

The Transitional Cardiology Unit is an 8 bed highly specialized unit caring for patients recovering from Angioplasty, ICD and pacemaker implants, Electrophysiological ablations and specialized medication administration. Our specialty unit also cares for patients with advanced heart failure, coronary artery disease and dysrhythmias. Nurses with excellent assessment and intervention skills will love this fast-paced, action-orientated unit where patients have a quick recovery. Responsibilities

Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders.

Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards. All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice guidelines.

Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources.

Organizes work and delegates and supervises others (RN's, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc) in carrying out assignments.

Clinical Coordinators work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.

Qualifications

Required

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing

Current RN licensure in Virginia

AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience

Charge Nurse experience or supervisory experience

Preferred

Certification in specialty area

Academic Health Care experience

Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
