Job Description

The Center for Leadership, Simulation, and Gaming in the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy is looking for a talented full-stack developer to join our team. The full-stack developer helps develop a set of policy-oriented, computer-based simulation models and participatory simulations (serious, web-based, multi-player games) for integration into the Batten School undergraduate and graduate curricula and research.

The position requires working as a member of a high-performance team of developers and educators to produce simulation models and games. The incumbent is responsible for new product design and works with the team to take features from concept to design completion and then see them through the development process. In addition, the full-stack developer improves versions of the previous simulations. The incumbent formulates and defines the system scope and objectives based on client needs. They devise or modify procedures to solve moderately complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. They are responsible for program design, coding, testing, and debugging. Outside the development time, the incumbent also helps with center events and activities as well as assists in researching and creating learning outcomes and measures for simulations and experiments.

A Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant work experience is required, a Master's degree is preferred. 5 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in computer programming including the use of Python is required. Applicants must have experience with both backend development and front-end development with UI design and frameworks. Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is required as is Knowledge of Django. Applicants with experience with databases, server technologies, and server-side languages are highly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with Social Sciences (Public Policy, psychology, economics, and political science) is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with the following knowledge: React, AJAX, RESTful services, APIs, Cross Browser Scripting, GIT, Cloud hosting solutions (AWS).
