Clinical Research Coordinators, Non-Licensed, work closely with study subjects and other research staff and are involved in most steps of the research trial process. They function under the Principal Investigator's medical license and cannot perform any tasks that by state or local law require a medical license to perform. They work independently and have the authority to adapt methods and procedures to meet the needs of the clinical trial. They are focused on the long term goals of clinical research trial and process.
The UVA Brain Institute is currently seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator or Clinical Research Coordinator, Intermediate, to support various clinical research projects. This position assists in planning, organizing and managing complex clinical trial activities and conducting the full range of clinical trial activities in compliance with state, federal and local regulatory requirements.
The position can be filled at either the Clinical Research Coordinator, Non-Licensed level or a Clinical Research Coordinator Intermediate, Non-Licensed level, depending on qualifications.
Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to relate to a wide array of people, ability to analyze and organize work procedures, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail required. Must have MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet experience. Experience in clinical trials is preferred.
Preferred knowledge includes:
human subjects research ethics
IRB procedures and submission process along with the federal regulations of working with human subjects
Scientific principles and research methodology
Medical terminology associated with diseases/conditions under study and Good Clinical Practices for research
The Brain Institute facilitates and supports multidisciplinary collaborative research projects at UVA centered around the study of the brain and related diseases and injuries. This position is restricted and is contingent upon funding.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Clinical Research Coordinator, Non-Licensed
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least one year.
Licensure: Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) with four years experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Clinical Research Coordinator Intermediate, Non-Licensed
Education: Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience: At least four years of relevant/related research experience.
Licensure: Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) preferred. Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA)with four years experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
