Job Description

The School of Architecture is looking for a motivated IT Support Technician to join our team and handle primary Tier 1 and Tier 2 user and desktop computing support.

The School of Architecture maintains a technologically rich and diverse environment of desktop and laptop computers, both Windows and MacOS, running both standard desktops as well as specialty software in the areas of Computer Aided Design, GIS, digital graphics and media, digital fabrication, simulation tools, sensing, data analytics, and more. The School of Architecture is a very dynamic and forward-thinking environment, with a strong focus on making real things in the world and implementing purposeful change. The School is also a recognized leader in technology at the University, often being first-to-implement in key areas.

The IT Support Technician will be a key member of our support team, working directly with faculty, staff, and students. They will assist Faculty, Staff, and Students with Network, Wifi, and desktop security, including 2-factor authentication, VPNs, common University applications, anti-virus and firewalls as well as Windows and MacOS desktop environments, tablets, and phones. The IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing A/V support and assisting in physical deployment and software image deployment for classrooms and labs. They will purchase and set up faculty and staff computers and work with vendors for hardware support, warranty, and repair on computer hardware, printers, and AV equipment. The Support Technician should also be able to learn and provide basic troubleshooting and Tier 1 support for more advanced applications in graphics (Adobe Creative Suite and similar), CAD, GIS, etc. which are commonly used in the school.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, with at least three years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Customer Service mindset and the ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, and students of the School of Architecture
A demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

3 or more years of experience troubleshooting audio-visual and computing systems
Knowledge of University Applications (SIS, UBI, Workday, 25 Live, etc.)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $47,000 - $53,000

The Selected candidate will be required to complete a background check prior to their first day of employment per University Policy.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves the extensive use of desktop computers and will require walking to assist customers. At times the incumbent will need to lift computers and equipment, push carts, and other physical functions.
